INTRODUCTION TO LIGHTNING PROTECTION SYSTEMS AND EXTERNAL EQUIPOTENTIAL BONDING SYSTEMS – LPS
To bring in line its Earthing and Lightning Protection Systems to comply with current regulation, Sati Italia has included 125 new products in its 2011 catalogue: "Lightning Protection Systems and External Equipotential Bonding Systems - LPS".
The first section of the catalogue has been improved with the inclusion of real-life case scenarios. These examples deal in detail with all technical aspects of implementing state-of-the-art Earthing and Lightning Protection Systems. Bearing in mind new regulation, they indicate the appropriate Sati Italia products.
Among the several case scenarios worth mentioning are the “Air Termination Mesh”, the “TT Earthing Systems for residential and commercial buildings", and the “TN Systems for industries, shopping malls and hotels ". All provide both designers and installers of the systems clear information and easy- to-follow instructions on how to use materials and products.
Three new products are especially worth mentioning for their technical features and reduced cost of installation:
1) Connection Clamps: for new buildings it is now possible to connect the earth to the reinforcement steel of the earth touching part of the foundation. Consequently, Sati Italia has introduced a range of specific terminals in the new catalogue to be utilised with complementary stranded continuity to achieve a simple and economical "equipotential earthing network".
2) Copper Coated Tape: in addition to the traditional galvanized steel tape, the new Sati Italia copper coated tape is a suitable alternative to the copper solid tape, thus offering significant saving.
3) Modular Earth Electrode PT4 Plate: this is actually not a new product because it was already present in the 2009/2010 catalogue, but it is still worth highlighting its unique characteristics. This is a "Modular Plate" that can be used as an alternative to the classic spike electrode. The advantage here is that a single PT4 Plate is equivalent to six traditional electrodes, with obvious savings in time and cost in the realisation of the plant.
The Modular PT4 Plate is a product developed and patented by Sati Italia and therefore is only available from Sati.
